Come read with me (July)

Image
I tried to complete reading at least 2 books this month...but I couldn't finish them! So I only have one review for July. It's Book 5 from the Anita Blake Series. This one is called Bloody Bones. This one takes Anita to another state to investigate a bizarre vampire killing. The author actually used an old rhyme about Rawhead & Bloody Bones to make up a new monster in this book. I personally have not heard of this but apparently Rawhead & Bloody Bones is equivalent to the American Boogeyman. Rawhead eats children who are bad and tell lies. >.<> I didn't really enjoy this book as it was a bit draggy and the plot seemed choppy (maybe the author was trying to put too many sub-plots at one go). I got a little confused - or maybe I scanned too quickly at some parts cause the elaboration of what the characters were wearing were too long. haha More info: Wiki on Rawhead & Bloody Bones Book write-up I'm in the midst of reading Book 6 and another book from a

Randy Pausch Last Lecture: Achieving Your Childhood Dreams

I first heard about Randy Pausch in Our Daily Bread (click here ). Randy was a computer science prof who had liver cancer and had months left to live. He gave a final lecture at his University. He knew that death was inevitable - so he chose to have fun every single day. My boss shared Randy's Last Lecture with us at work, and I thank him for that. :) I expected Randy to be old and well, dying. However, this man was exuberant! You will totally forget that he's diagnosed with cancer when you watch him. Here's the last lecture which I took from Youtube: It's an hour-long, but it's worth the time. He has wonderful quotes in this lecture, and he keeps the lecture humorous. My fav quote: The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. more info: Randy's page His day-to-day blog

I just got back from a short trip to Redang. The last time I went there was in 2008(did a post on it HERE . I must say it didn't change much (which is a good thing). Departed Penang at 9pm and arrived at Kuala Terengganu at 5am. Hung around at the bus station before the travel office opened at 7am. Got to see the floating mosque again Took a speedboat at Merang Jetty. It takes about 45 minutes to reach Redang Island Welcome to Redang Island! Where we stayed Laguna beach resort at night Had a fun time playing carrom Unwanted visitor! Thank God I didn't find any at the room! Air-brushed tattoo is a must have! Dusk The World Cup Finals were going to be played the night we were going to depart from our holiday. So ofcourse I had to write something on the sand: I was so sure I was going to miss the Finals, as it was going to take about 6hrs drive from Kelantan (we went there from Terengganu after leaving the island in the morning). Our bus driver was super and he reached us back to
