Murals of Penang..and the Minions Invasion :)

After sooo long, I Finally got to see the beautiful Murals all over the Heritage Area in my beautiful Penang!

We have beautiful metal art all over the Heritage areas..did not see all, but saw some along the way :)
Explaining about Nasi Kandar - a local rice dish which almost all Malaysian love

The Lang Chia (person ride)

We also saw *most* of the 101 Lost Kittens @ Georgetown. The Cats (and 1 dog) were painted by the ASA - Artists for Stray Animals-  Tang Yeok Khang of Bukit Mertajam, Penang, Natthaton Muangkliang of Thailand and Louise Low of Kuala Lumpur.- It was painted for the Georgetown Festival in July and also to create awareness to care for the stray animals..they need love and shelter too :) Information acquired from:Timothy Tye

We used this map to walk all around Penang! A kind lady from Skippy's gave us this map when we were walking about. She still gave the map to us eventhough we did not rent her bicycles. The rental for the bike is RM10 (decent pricing) and would be easier to get about if you have constraint for time. We walked for 4 hours! :)

Everyone, please meet Skippy :) Gorgeous painting!!

Right opposite Skippy's mural

Adorable.. they are situated near Skippy

Love this one! These kitties were spray painted behind the largest building of Fire and Rescue Department of Penang. They were so cute :)

@ Skippy's Bicycle for Rent Stall.. perhaps we have a 102nd Lost kitty? :)

Bruce Lee fighting the kitty cat.. I like the puzzled kitty on the bottom..

@ Cheah Kongsi Temple
This was by far the MOST Difficult mural to locate!!!! We went around it 3-4 times before we could find it. It was hidden well. Props to the Jeweler who pointed out that it was situated near a small shrine (he pointed it out in the map) - ONLY THEN could we locate it. This is the one with the doggy <3 span="">

Finally I got to see the beautiful murals painted by Ernest Zacharevic..he painted them in 2012 for the Penang Georgetown Festival..some of the paintings have been faded..so you better come quickly to see them before they fade away!
Most popular painting, situated @ Armenian Street

Artistic metal tree opposite the mural
Reaching Up Mural @ Cannon Street

Boy on a Bike mural @ Ah Quee Street

Ernest's neighbour, a clogmaker was depicted in this mural..unfortunately it has faded tremendously

Children on a boat mural @ Chew Jetty..super faded!!

The Tri-Shaw Rider..huge mural opposite SFX Church (we drove to see this one!)

Huge Little Girl @ Muntri Street (we drove to see this one!)

We have new murals painted by other artists as well
This one was painted by Louis Gan - we had so much fun with this mural! Info from here

The roadsign was added as part of the mural. This is located at Gat Lebuh Chulia
FUN!

Children playing basketball - situated the road opposite the children on the swing. There is a bike for rent stall there and they sell souvenirs, drinks and ice pops. Loved the ice pop as they used real orange juice for it.. only RM1.50 - really refreshing on a super hot day. The lady at the stall is very nice and friendly too.

Gorgeous mural..unfortunately half of it is broken.. the broken bit is a skull..explaining that the traditional art is dying..really beautiful. This one is a Chinese Opera actress/singer.

Not too sure who drew these..it's near Cannon Street
Love the fact that Penangites have a sense of humour.. amidst the history and beauty of the Heritage buildings, we have beautiful art......and the Minions invasion!

Minions! at Lorong Soo Hoong (Soo Hoong Lane) so cute :)
The Bee Do Bee Do Bee Do minion.. had a good laugh at this one :) This is situated at Lebuh Ah Quee (near the boy on a bike mural)
Chinion? heheh the Chinese Minion - Painted on the gate of a printing shop.. this is right across the children on a swing mural.. very new.. they are so funny!

Quaint Pre-War houses..mostly are turned into shoplots, cafe or guest houses now

Had so much fun walking and searching for the murals.. ingenious way of getting to know a city :) I LOVE MY PENANG!!!
