Come read with me Jan - May '14

I read a few books.. and it's going to take a few photos to jog my memory! Thankfully I took photos of the books that I read. I have a feeling I have deleted some off my phone though..hmm.. here it goes, in no particular order (cause I really cannot remember!)

The series that I was reading in January was the Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare. She also wrote the Mortal Instruments (review here). I must say this series was really well written. This is actually the prequel to the Mortal Instruments (the series is not complete yet). I really like the protagonist - a girl named Tessa Gray - who actually isn't sure what she is, but later finds out she has a gift of shapeshifting. There are many elements but to make it simple, it is a novel that is adventurous, romance and sometimes lighthearted. I really like the way Cassandra writes these books; adding twists here and there that I did not anticipate and summing it up all at the end. Kudos to her. Now, to wait for Book 6 from the Mortal Instruments' Series: City of Heavenly Fire!(Eep just checked and it has been released on 27th May!)

The next book I read was The Fault in our Stars by John Green..I was ill when I read this..and it really hit home. Such a beautiful, surreal yet simple story. There is a movie out and Ed Sheeran's song All of the Stars is part of the soundtrack and I've been listening to it a lot now :) Please read it if you can. Really good! I will not spoil it for you.

March - May I read the Divergent series by Veronica Roth





Super good series!! It's about a girl who is looking for her true identity in a city that is so "systematic" and arranged that those who do not fit in, basically gets 'wiped out'. You can read the synopsis here. The  story is super filled with action, even the movie does not do it justice. Well written and totally did not expect the ending!!!

Currently I'm reading Inferno by Dan Brown :) Taking my time to read it though.

Come Read With Me (February)

I've got 4 books to share with you for February :) First would be a book given to me by Mariposi (aka Gavin) for my birthday. Was so thoughtful of you! Thank goodness he gave me the English version as I do not think I would be able to tackle the original version (which is in Spanish) as my vocabulary in Spanish is abysmal at this moment. The cover of the book pretty much sums up the story - A novel in monthly instalments with recipes, romances and home remedies. The story is set in a ranch in Mexico. A boy resorted to marry the sister of his girlfriend just so he could be close to her as she was destined to take care of her mother till her mother dies as she was the youngest of the family. I love the way Laura writes and she incorporates a lot of recipes in between the main plot. I just watched the movie (no subtitles!) and it was a good thing I read the book beforehand or else I might have gotten a little lost. Barcelona!!

Be warned: This is a super long post..longer than my Al-Hambra one! I'm finally blogging about my next destination during my trip to Spain.. that is none other than the lovely and quirky.. BARCELONA! After the last day of class (Friday), my friend Nav and I took the bus to Madrid..we booked a flight to Barcelona from Madrid at about 6.30am (i think?) on Saturday morning. We said our goodbyes to our housemates and new found friends, and departed the beautiful Salamanca. On the way to Madrid (last time onboard the efficient and comfy Avanza) I caught Ávila at night and I must say the view was breathtaking, it happened to quickly and I couldn't take the pic on time. Managed to catch the colourful sky though =) Skyline - trust me if was so beautiful in real, the camera gives it no credit at all. We spent the night at the airport, but I didn't get much sleep at all - THANKS to one lousy couple who sat opposite me..that lady had an annoying high pitched laugh..AND SHE KEPT LAUG
